Music Gardens

“Music Gardens” celebrates the unique and unquestionable power of global folk musical heritage and represents a bridge between generations, cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Dušan Bogdanović's imaginative and beautifully crafted arrangements for guitar duo offer audiences an immediate gateway into our ethnic musical heritage, through the expressive and colorful voice of the classical guitar.
What began as his wish to create a musical journey for his young son gradually expanded into a wider, cosmopolitan sound world – one that resonates deeply with our own artistic vision as a duo. His words capture the spirit that continues to guide us:

“In today's fast-paced world, every individual holds within them the potential seed to cultivate personal and collective ‘music gardens.’ These musical gardens serve as conduits for reinterpreting and reimagining stories, emotions, and experiences across generations and cultures, fostering an ongoing dialogue between the past, present, and future.
The original inspiration for this project stemmed from my desire to create a compilation of world music pieces dedicated to my young son, Theodore. I envisioned a collection that would offer a cosmopolitan musical experience, accessible and engaging for a young audience.

Upon encountering the charming interplay of Antigoni and Eleonora’s guitar duo, I felt compelled to expand the project into a full recording, complemented by my own composition derived from a beautiful vocal piece by the 15th-century French composer, Gilles Binchois.
This collection takes its cue from the shared ancestry of all humans, tracing back to a common African forebear known as ‘mitochondrial Eve.’ The mini-collection begins with the Namibian song ‘Jimbii’ (‘Look at the Big Birds’), and subsequently includes the Japanese song ‘Mukô Yokochô,’ ‘I’d Love to be a Farmer’ from North Macedonia, and the Croatian favorite ‘Two Guys from Brač’.
Let this small selection serve as a musical seed, blossoming into the diverse and abundant spirit of the music gardens.
